- History of PSBA
PSBA has been a major collaboration activity
across the Welsh public sector since its inception in 2004. The Welsh
Assembly Government provided the vision, motivation and led the process
of its development.
This resulted in the creation of the PSBA
Partnership which represents the public sector bodies who are financing
and using the PSBA network. The PSBA network supplier, Logicalis UK Ltd
has now also joined this partnership.

The Countryside Council for Wales is the
Government’s statutory advisor on sustaining natural beauty, wildlife
and opportunity for outdoor enjoyment in Wales and its inshore waters.
The
Countryside Council for Wales has joined the nationwide network and
community of PSBA users. This provides Countryside Council for Wales
with broadband connectivity between its fourteen sites across Wales with
significant cost savings to be realised.

PSBA
delivers a network which is typically both cheaper and exceeds the
benefits offered by existing networks. It offers greater value for
money, provides a common infrastructure and language for collaboration
and offers an effective procurement route to support ‘Buying Once for
Wales’.
The Welsh public sector has made a significant
investment in PSBA and most organisations are already seeing the
benefits of this investment through savings in network costs. But, PSBA
is about more than just buying a network, it involves supporting a
longer term vision of information sharing and collaborative working: the
public sector working together to effectively deliver citizen-centred
services.
