PSBA has a range of collateral that provides an overview of PSBA, its history, benefits, how PSBA addresses the Public Sector needs, an overview of PSBA services and a case study on Countryside Council for Wales, the first non-founding partner of PSBA.

PSBA provides a portfolio of services to meet a diverse range of needs from small groups with relatively simple requirements, to very large communities requiring complex and varied network services.

The PSBA network is a virtualised, flexible, scalable, information platform helping those in the public sector to deliver the best services at the best price to the people of Wales.

Core network services

  • Bandwidth from 1Mbps to 1Gbps
  • Technical advice and capacity planning
  • Internet Access
  • Gateway Services to third party networks
  • IP multicast capability
  • Domain Name System (DNS) Services and domain registry
  • Content Filtering to meet the Internet Watch Foundation standards
  • Secure connections to shared resources and to enable shared services
  • Support and fault resolution service

All the services described are subject to a detailed monthly report outlining performance against the Service Level Agreement. In most cases, end-users have the option of requesting additional features at an agreed cost.

Advanced network services

The PSBA network, in addition to the core network services can provide:

  • Managed Firewall service
  • Local NAT services
  • Enhanced Content Filtering
  • Greater Resilience
  • Custom Resilience Requirements
  • Local VPN termination services
  • Support for Protectively Marked traffic up to IL3 (RESTRICTED)

Professional services

To maximise the benefits of PSBA a growing number of additional services are available;

  • Technical advice, including detailed capacity planning
  • Advice on the implementation of Voice over IP (VoIP)
  • Implementation of video-conferencing
  • Advice on the use and implementation of an unified communication system.

New services

Over time, the range of services offered through the PSBA portfolio will increase. This will help organisations with local voice and video projects; data storage and co-location requirements and other network related projects.
