Roll-out in Primary Care speeds along
All but 7 GP practices are now connected to the PSBA network with Radyr Medical centre having the honour of being the 500th migration. The improved speed of transactions has been a key part of the project with an increasing number of practices seeing the benefits of PSBA.

First GP Practices Switch to PSBA
The health sector is now migrating to the new PSBA network. Six GP practices, in the Merthyr Tydfil and Pontypridd areas, are leading the way as early adopters. They switched to the new network recently and several immediately reported a noticeable improvement in performance.

Core network now upgraded to 2.5 Gbps - October 23rd 2008
The core network has been upgraded to 2.5 Gbps. This is a 400% increase in capacity and provides the public sector in Wales with capacity to handle existing and future needs, which includes the expansion from 8 to 12 Core locations to bring the PSBA service into mid-Wales (Powys, Llandrindod Wells, Newton & Welshpool)

Logicalis Accredited
Logicalis’s office in Nantgarw near Cardiff achieved accreditation to ISO9001, ISO27001, ISO20000 and ISO14001. This is an extension of the accreditation of Logicalis office in Slough.

Access to Services provided on N3 for Health Organisations
July 2008 - Access to N3 services continues to be available for Health Organisations in Wales after the migration to PSBA. Connectivity is maintained through the N3 Gateway which is managed by HSW to assure that these key business links remain in place.

Increased capacity for East Wales
Logicalis has added 4 new Core PoP’s in East Wales (Powys) . Public sector organisations in East Wales will benefit from improved capacity and reduced costs.

Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council secures new broadband deal
Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council has secured a new deal that prevents price increases for our Schools for their Broadband services for up to seven years. The Council has bucked a national trend, which has seen recharges for schools for Broadband rise by up to 27 per cent, by signing the deal with Logicalis and the Welsh Assembly Government’s Public Sector Broadband Aggregation framework.

Service desk opens in Cardiff
A new service desk has been opened in Wales to handle queries and issues on the psba network. Procedures based on the ITIL guidelines and will ensure that the psba users will receive an effective and professional response. The HEFE (Higher Education/Further Education) PSBA migration commenced in April & continued during May & June with 26 out of 27 locations migrated successfully onto the PSBA network.

PSBA Network Workshops take place across Wales
Over 100 delegates from public sector organisations across Wales attended a series of workshops during April 2008. The workshops brought together PSBA Network partner organisations, prospective users, the PSBA project team and the PSBA network supplier – Logicalis in three locations in North, Mid and South Wales . The workshops were aimed at providing delegates with an update on project progress, reaffirm commitment and showcase the service and network offerings.

Logicalis awarded 7 Year contract to operate Public Sector Broadband Aggregation service on behalf of Welsh Assembly Government - August 31st 2008
When it comes to the implementation and usage of technology, Wales is clearly punching above its weight. However, the one overriding challenge for the country is to somehow retain the ability to connect and integrate disparate networks in a way that is secure, flexible, cost effective, and continues to improve the lives of the Welsh people.
